    Meet me on Flickr

    I must admit, I haven’t been very active on Instagram for a long time, though I do attempt from time to time. It doesn’t seem other photographers are very active either, so I googled some and found out that maybe people on Flickr are more active. I have an old account from 2009 so I have been there before but then Instagram was muck more exciting and vivid. Now I have created a new account dedicated to my infrared endeavors.     All aboard! Where has this cart been? Who has gone with it? Maybe I have done it at some point? I’ve traveled quite a lot by train in my days.

    As a time optimist, I seldom look forward to the train journey the last moment before I board the train. There are so many times that I have jumped on the train at the very last second. The fact that you can now buy a ticket via an app on the platform before you jump on the train increases the excitement a notch.

    Arrival! Travel is associated with so many different emotions. Some trips are just for fun, others are forced out of necessity. For me, it’s usually a combination of both because I usually take the train when I go to the office and work. I work remotely from home, so the times I have to go to work turn into pleasant outings with little chance for social interaction.

    One of my passions are trains. I once worked with constructing signalsystems, connecting the signals with railway switches, railway crossings and everything else you can imagine needs a signal to tell the engineer if the line is clear or not. It is a special feeling to go by train and know that I was part of making this part of the line work.

    Exhibition in Bakstugan 2023

    This year, there are two exhibitors in Bakstugan Tived: Enar Philipsson from Laxå who exhibits his wooden artworks and Maria Tingvall who grew up in Tiveden and exhibits her artistic photographs.

Enar reuses materials he finds for his artworks. If you look closely at the pieces of wood, you can see that it can come from really old planks, it shows in the deep ring grooves. Often he finds shapes when he is out in nature, he then creates something new from these. Sometimes he combines it with old things that can be reused in new formats. In the exhibition there are pure works of art such as abstract figures and birds, there are also beautiful objects of art such as butter knives and napkin holders among many other things.

Maria plays with the light to bring out the feeling in the pictures. She uses a technique where the camera is rebuilt and can be used to photograph in the infrared color range, which creates a surreal and imaginative feeling in certain lights, such as when the chlorophyll-filled leaves of the trees reflect all the infrared light and turn white in the image. It is the same technique that is used for dark photos and some satellite photos, but with a normal camera where some filters have been removed. The pictures were taken while walking around Sävsjöfallet in Tiveden.

Bakstugan is located in the middle of the Tivedsskogarna along horse-riding, canoeing and cycling trails and is well located for a small leg stretcher even for motorized vehicles.
The exhibition can be visited Wednesday-Monday until August 25 and Saturday Sunday until September 10

    The harbour is a place where people meet, stroll or stop for something to eat. Watching the gulls fly by and try to get the occational snack that somebody dropped on the ground. The boat houses are full of activity and filled with local goods and goodies.

    As I wrote in my earlier post, I went with my son to Askersund to shop and for a photowalk. One of the most beautiful restaurants/pubs I know is Sundsgården, it sits so welcoming when you enter the town over the Sundsbron/-bridge, a yellow wooden house that has been there for more than a hundred years.

    Chevrolet meet in Askersund

    The other day I went to town with my youngest son for some shopping and a photo walk. Askersund is a cozy little town with many of the old wooden bulidings left and some new wooden buildings added. There are more “modern” dwellings to around the center but central town has its own charm. I will post images later because it happened to be a club meet for Chevrolet owners that we could try our different skills at. This yellow one (don’t ask me any more details about it furter than that is is a Chevrolet :-D) seems to have been very photogenic becaus we both ended up with images of it from different angels.
